When to Book Your Vendors

Let’s break it down. There’s no right or wrong timeline to follow, but take our advice, the sooner the better! Most wedding vendors book a year out. A typical, modern engagement lasts 1-2 years for that reason! We recommend choosing a date and a venue right away to take care of the where and when. This will make booking other vendors easier, too!

Photographer, videographer, and entertainment should be booked next. These vendors should be booked based on style and aesthetic. Always check out your venue’s preferred vendor list for possible discounts!

Next, you want to look into florals, hair and makeup, and catering. These vendors will typically book up 9 months out from a wedding date. If you have a company in mind, don’t hesitate! There is some flexibility here because these vendors often have teams to facilitate multiple weddings in one day.

Finally, about 6 months before the wedding don’t forget to book rental items (don’t miss our blog on What You Need to Know About Rentals), a photo booth (if that’s your thing!), your officiant if needed, and bakery for your cake.

Of course, there are always other details that go into a wedding. Let this be your guide while prioritizing what you need to book. Our biggest tip: if you feel like you absolutely need a vendor you have met with at your wedding, don’t wait! They may book up while you think it over!
